Labdoo at UCI will speak about the online tools that bring together a global network of people in order to leverage untapped resources for education. Learn about how businesses and individuals can participate together in transforming old laptops into opportunity.
Description: "Each year around 100 million laptops are replaced in the developed world as consumers upgrade to the latest technologies. The increasing number of laptops being replaced poses a significant e-waste management problem. The Labdoo project aims to extend the life of the laptops by providing school children in developing countries with laptops for education. The project encourages everyone to include their laptops within our online database. Once these laptops are broken or out of use, users are then reminded to bring it to us in order to be recycled properly or donated to an education installment project with a partnering organization."
